As a communications coordinator, Wes works to grow CCI’s in-house events capacity in supporting teams across the organization to optimize program events and community experiences — virtual, hybrid, and in-person.
He contributes to CCI’s digital community building, creating introductions, connections, and serendipity. Wes also partners across our teams to digitize their outreach, help expand their facilitation toolbox, and co-develop and execute engagement strategies. Wes is excited to continue elevating the storytelling aspects of CCI’s work, co-producing multimedia content to transform typically cohort-centric activities or conversations into resources that can spread innovative practices and benefit the health care safety net community audience at large.
Before CCI, Wes (he/him) worked at Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre (KPET) as a lead Performing Health Educator and Assistant Production Manager across all of KPET’s touring programs — working directly with youth and schools in underinvested communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. In addition to this unique scope in community health as a “teaching artist” and peer support counselor for youth— Wes has also worked at Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) and FilAm Arts, two long-standing community-based organizations providing arts and culture enrichment, health and human services, and community economic development programs that serve the ethnically diverse and intergenerational families throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
Wes studied at UC Irvine, earning his bachelor’s degree in social science, specializing in multicultural studies, as well as in drama / theatre arts. He grew up in Southern California and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2012 where he currently resides with his family.
