The Center for Care Innovations is strengthening the health and well-being of underserved communities.
We support the “health care safety net,” a patchwork of organizations working in low-income neighborhoods across the United States.
Their programs and providers, in turn, aid millions of people who would otherwise be unable to access quality health care because of lack of insurance, geographic isolation, language and cultural barriers, immigration status, homelessness, and more.
Our core collaborators include:
All provide assistance regardless of a person’s ability to pay.
At the same time, these organizations are often resource constrained — demand for their services far outstrips the supply of both money and time. Regularly threatened with funding gaps and shortages, the safety net struggles to train staff, adopt new technologies, and develop systems that create efficiencies.
This disparity is exacerbated by the increased risk of chronic illnesses — like asthma, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease — and premature death among people living in poverty.
We cultivate innovation within organizations delivering care and services to low-income people. How? At CCI, we …
We give you the tools to turbocharge your work. We’re big believers in “design thinking,” a human-centered approach to innovation that collaboratively engages your community in generating new ideas. We’re facilitators and a convener of multi-sector partnerships. We help you bolster the people, processes, and technology behind data analytics. We also pull from process improvement and change management frameworks, teaching you the skills to scaffold your ideas, draw connections, and share through storytelling.
Our experts — CCI’s small-but-mighty staff, experienced consulting partners, and external evaluators — are ready to help you put new ideas into action. Because each innovation initiative is unique, our support is responsive to the problems you are trying to solve. Sometimes we provide funding, while other times we create the space to take risks. We vet technologies and coach you through problems. We show you how to follow evidence-based health care practices, pilot creative solutions from industries outside of health care, win buy-in from key stakeholders, and more.
We celebrate what works. We’ve built a diverse community of changemakers who are constantly sharing their experiences, so no one needs to struggle on their own or reinvent the wheel. We love forging interesting new connections, introducing you to both groundbreaking entrepreneurs and peers who are tackling similar challenges. This all allows you to easily identify the perfect innovation for your organization — and then quickly run with it.
The work we do is informed first by the needs of underserved communities and second by our values as an organization. Our values drive how we design programs, how we operate as a team, and how we see the future of the safety net.
We listen deeply. We approach our work with humility and curiosity.
We encourage each other to be daring. But we also support each other in failure.
Because we are continually adapting, we know when it’s time to move on to the next challenge.
We make space for play in the everyday.
We ask, “What if?” We anchor our decisions to what’s possible and work our way back to what’s feasible.
