OVERVIEW
Too often, people experiencing homelessness don’t receive the medical care they need—whether due to barriers in access, coordination, or resources. When people don’t get the care they need, it becomes even harder to maintain stable housing. It’s a vicious cycle. Housing and health are intimately linked.
To address this head-on, we are launching a new program called the Innovation Accelerator: Housing and Health to help organizations make medical, mental health, and substance use treatment more accessible across the continuum of homeless services. This new program is funded by Cedars-Sinai and led by Center for Care Innovations.
Innovation Accelerator is not focused on teaching a single care model. Instead, we’re supporting six teams — working on approaches ranging from street medicine to co-located care in shelters and housing — to develop and scale new ways of bridging healthcare and homeless services. Together, we will work toward the vision of ensuring that homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring.
