In May 2019, the Center for Care Innovations (CCI) launched the Addiction Treatment Starts Here: Behavioral Health learning collaborative.
The initiative was designed to support organizations providing behavioral health services to implement programs that offer medications for addiction treatment (MAT). Funded by the California Department of Health Care Services, the project was part of the state’s effort to combat the opioid crisis and one of CCI’s portfolio of projects expanding access to MAT.
The executive summary of the evaluation highlights the achievements and learnings from this project. Among the gains was nearly tripling the number of providers prescribing MAT and an almost five-fold increase in MAT clients. Beyond the numbers, participants share in their own words the impact that MAT can have on their patients.
