As a program manager, Juan Carlos helps community health centers strengthen their health equity practices by identifying and analyzing major social and structural determinants of health to improve population health for historically underinvested communities. He is currently leading CCI’s new behavioral health equity program.

Juan Carlos joined CCI with more than five years of public health and public policy research experience. As an evaluation consultant for health equity and social impact initiatives, he collected and analyzed data to identify disparities, centered community experiences, and collaborated with philanthropic organizations in the successful implementation of programs. Informed by his lived experience, professional background, and academic training, Juan Carlos believes that holistic well-being extends beyond physical health and should also incorporate other dimensions of a person’s life.

Juan Carlos earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and ethnic studies at the University of California, Davis and a master’s degree in public health with an emphasis in health and social behavior at the University of California, Berkeley. Having grown up in a rural town nestled in the California Eastern Sierra Mountains, you can find him planning his next camping, hiking, or snowboarding trip.
