CCI began as a unique collaboration between Tides and the California Endowment in 1999 to provide grants, evidence-based programming, and training for community health centers. Since our founding, CCI has acted as a catalyst for the health care safety net to take risks, explore creative solutions, and emerge as a model to emulate.

CCI has always been a place to connect and collaborate, and we’ve created innovative programs with funders like the Blue Shield of California Foundation, the California Health Care Foundation, Kaiser Permanente — Northern and Southern California Regions and the California Mental Health Services Authority. We have also served as the fiscal agent for cutting-edge projects that were related to our program areas. We’ve done this work since 1999 because we believe the health care safety net gets stronger with each connection made and each innovation shared. The health challenges facing underserved communities — and those who seek to strengthen them — are enormous. But so are our field’s shared knowledge, creativity and resources when we choose to seek solutions together. After more than a decade, we remain steadfast in our founding belief that when the right people, ideas and resources come together, resilient systems of care and treatment will be built — and quality health care will be available to all.
