Dr. Marc Jaffe of Kaiser Permanente reviews the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association’s 2013 Guideline on the Treatment of Blood Cholesterol to Reduce Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Risk in Adults. The guideline no longer advises LDL control targets as the optimal way to reduce cardiac risk. Rather, statin intensity is endorsed.

Dr. Jaffe is the Subchief of Endocrinology, Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Medical Center and Clinical Leader, Kaiser Permanente Northern California Cardiovascular Risk Reduction and Program (PHASE Program). He is also Clinical Leader of Kaiser Permanente’s National Integrated Cardiovascular Health (ICVH) Guideline Development Group, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF and an Attending Physician at San Francisco General Hospital Endocrinology Clinic.
